Not that the gym on campus is closed, but it might as well be 10,000 miles away from my apartment when my long day is over and I wanna hit a workout.
As a senior in college, one might think my load is pretty light, but alas, that is not the case. The idea of walking to the gym after class makes tears come to my eyes, so lately I have been doing workouts at - home, in my apartment.
I am a big yoga fan, and usually doing 30 minutes of an intermediate yoga class with an online instructor sets me up well. It oxygenates my blood and helps clear my mind. Yoga also reduces my stress and produces "calming" chemicals in the brain.
My favorite yoga instructor right now is "Yoga With Kassandra," a yoga instructor who puts out free content on youtube. I have been doing yoga for a few years now, and I really don't like a lot of talking during my practice. She has a whole playlist of "minimal cues" classes, where she will call out the yoga pose and how many breaths you are in it for, but that is about it. This type of workout is best for people who know enough about yoga poses and transitions to not hurt themselves during practice.
If you want something a little easier, go with Yoga With Adrienne. She is really smart, and a great beginner yoga instructor. She breaks down the poses and explains their benefits. She also has a lot of free content on Youtube that targets specific body parts. My favorite part of her channel is the videos like "Yoga For Grief," that she has. Adrienne is very good at targeting specific things that everyone needs to address.
Recently, I have wanted to do something a little more than yoga. I went ahead and bought some workout bands from my favorite celebrity Fitness Trainer, Kira Stokes. A collection of 3 of her bands is around $20. People who use resistance bands and another level of badass in my head. When I use them I feel like an idiot, but I am a complete novice with those so I give myself some mercy. Resistence bands are so helpful and easy to use during a workout that I am shocked I had not bought them before. There are also TONS of posts and pins online with good workouts using those bands, so definitely look into it.
