If you are ANYTHING like me, a girl with sensitive skin just trynna get some good products on her skin, then you are gonna wanna scroll DOWN to my list of sensitive skin beauty brand recommendations. So go ahead, skip the rest and scroll down to that list of beauty products, I’m not offended in the slightest. In fact, I approve, cause I do that too. ;) And if you wish to read the why’s and how’s of information, just keep swimming.
Sensitive skin is NOT something you want to spend the rest of your life wrestling with. Whether you have a history with sensitive skin due to eczema, dry skin or the likes, you are likely ready to find that one beauty brand that is going to take care of all your sensitive skin needs. And I get it. I am a sensitive skin girl, on the real. I have spend countless hours, convos with doctors and paychecks trying to find that perfect combo of beauty products that is going to heal my skin and help it begin to grow. I am not prepared to spend the rest of my earthly existence searching high and low for that off-brand wonder, or listen to another person (who doesn’t actually have to deal with sensitive skin) tell me all about their great products. Like, hush human.
Sister, I’m with you. And I have spent my own time and money finding some products that worked for me, and I think will work for you too! Now, I am not going to 100% guarantee that every single one of these products are the ones you have been waiting for. There is no way it can be 100% guaranteed to work on every skin type, that is just not a thing. There are plenty of factors that contribute to skin differences including climate, environment, past skin care regimes and medical problems. Diet, exercise and SPF habits are also factors. But…
I, a head to toe pale sister, have suffered some serious sensitive skin trials. After literal years of going back and forth between the doctors office and the aisles of Walgreens, this sensitive skin “problem” just seemed to be apart of me. I grew up in the dry mountains of Colorado with the never ending worry of eczema and puffy skin. But I knew if I just kept looking I could find something to settle on. And I did. So HAHA WORLD!
These products are listed in the order in which I used them, within a 2 year timespan. The best thing you can do for your sensitive skin is to get on a skin care regime and stick with it. Changing products routinely is just as bad as bad skin care products, but taking the time to find a clean, working line of products is worth it. Luckily I did all that work for you. You can thank me later…
Hydro Boost Water Gel ($21.49)
If the signs are getting clearer and clearer that you have sensitive skin and you are not totally sure where to start, Neutrogena is a great spot for you!
This light weight hydro boost water gel from Neutrogena is an excellent start to a healthy skin care regime. Making sure that your skin is properly moisturized will change the game for you in how your skin looks with and without makeup on, and more importantly, how it feels. Neutrogena is a very popular, highly recommended brand that dermatologists recommend, and it’s easily affordable. You can also use this gel multiple times a day if you feel you need it!
Clinique - Moisture Surge collection. ($49.99 total)
If you are looking to get a skin care regime from one single brand instead of jumping around, use Clinique. These products. Whoo whoo. If I didn't know moisture before I sure know it now, and we are welllll acquainted. This collection comes in 4 specific products:
72 hour auto-replenishing hydrator.
Moisture Surge Eye 96-Hour Hydro-Filler Concentrate.
Moisture Surge Face Spray Thirsty Skin Relief.
Moisture Surge Overnight Mask.
The replenishing hydrator is cool to the skin after its washed and dried, as well as light. Its buildable if you think you need a second coat (or third or eighth…) and the overnight mask can go right on top of the hydrator, for an extra pump of moisture. The moisture god’s are dancing for you honey. The face spray is a soft, light spray and is a definite purse packer wherever you go. And worried about some dark, dry under eyes? Put that clear eye cream on baby, put it on.
This whole collection is soft on the skin and doesn’t sting after you wash your face, which is common for sensitive skin. If ever you need a moment between after you dry your face and when you put on moisturizer, that light face spray comes in handy to hold dry skin over for a little while. Great collection, and easily affordable too!
If you have ever wanted to splurge on a little something the beauty world, Estee Lauder is the way to go.
Estee Lauder Creams + Samples ($50-$70) Look, Karly Kloss ain’t messin around about the quality of this brand. Their products make you feel high class and sexy, and they do good for that skin of yours. When I got serious about taking care of my skin, I decided to try some Estee Lauder skin care creams, as I was already using their amazing Double Wear Foundation. The two creams I used were: Nightwear Plus Anti-Oxidant Night Detox Cream and DayWear Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant 24H Moisture Creme SPF 15.
The nightwear is a little thicker than the day cream, and I saw more results using the night cream combined with the free Advanced Night Repair serum that comes with every purchase. Getting free samples with every purchase is another plus of using Estee Lauder, and they are pretty good sized samples too. They also give out a sample of their NightWear Eye Cream that is very beneficial. These creams never once burned my skin and I only saw more healing and repair using these products. They are rich and creamy and very nice on the skin.
When are looking for a light, travel size pick-me-up make-me-feel-good somethin-somethin for your skin, Mario Badescu has you sister.
Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater ($7)
I saw this brand make it’s round on Pinterest first, and though I thought it was cute and aesthetic, I did not believe it had any merit at all. However, Ulta started selling it at the checkout line in those small sample bottles and I paid the $5 to try one out. I assumed it was either a placebo or a placebo. HOWEVER… This sucker is a tried and true wonder on my skin. It moisturizes, calms redness and is helping with sensitivity. Since the point of healing the skin is to de-sensitize the skin, this is doing the trick! I love the small samples that I can pack on the go and spray when I want! It makes me feel like a queen!
The process of finding some good, affordable, worthy products for my sensitive skin was kind of exhausting. Until I saw some signs of results I was really bummed out that I would never see anything good in the mirror. These products really helped boost some of that sister swag I had. They also made beauty and skin care fun for me, which is something I didn’t even know I wanted! I love these products and enjoy using them, and I don’t feel like I am throwing my hard earned, 20-something, precious dollars to the wind when I purchase them. I recommend these products to my friends and enjoy watching them use these products and say how much they like them too! Beauty is fun and sexy and sweet and sassy, and with these products I feel exactly like that!
